Gippsland Waratah

Shrub or tree to 10 m or so tall. Leaves narrowly obovate, mostly 10-30 cm long, 1.5-6 cm wide; margins entire; stalk 1-2.5 cm long. Flower cluster compact, to about 10 cm wide with deciduous red, pink or green bracts 2-5 cm long. Tepals 2-2.5 cm long, crimson or occasionally white; Sept-Dec. Fruit 5-7.5 cm long; seeds with wing to about 4.5 cm long.
