Shrub to 1 m tall. Leaves cylindrical, on male plants 8 mm long, 1 mm wide, on females 2.2 cm long and just over 1mm wide, more crowded and bent back towards the flower heads. Female flower heads 2 cm long, floral bracts united at the base and arranged in 3 spirals.
