Shrub or small tree to 6 m tall. Leaves ovate to spoon-shaped to linear, 0.5-2.5 cm long, 3-6 mm wide, blunt-tipped, hairy below, margin slightly rolled under. Flower clusters mostly 7-flowered. Flowers irregular, 4.5-5.5 cm long, yellow to orange or scarlet, hairless; year round. Fruit ovoid, about 1 cm long, 6-8 mm wide, valves beaked.
