Shrub to about 5 m tall. Leaves linear, to 2 cm long and 1.5 cm wide, margin rolled under, tip blunt. Flower clusters sometimes several together, each 7-flowered. Flowers irregular, spreading, not enclosed by the bracts, red, spreading outwards; mostly spring and summer. Fruit ovoid, 8-10 mm long.
