Rose Coneflower

Shrub to 2 m tall. Leaves crowded, to about 3.5 cm long, variously divided, stiff, grooved, sharply pointed. Flower clusters mostly terminal, ovoid to spherical, stalkless, to about 6 cm wide. Flowers to 2.5 cm long, mauve-pink to red, hairless except for at the tips of the segments; winter to early summer. Fruiting cones spherical, ovoid or obovoid, to 2 cm wide.
