Shrub to about 1.5 m tall. Leaves variable, to about 3.5 cm long, hairless, the tip blunt but with a sharp point. Flower clusters generally grouped together towards the tips of the branchlets, to about 2 cm long and surrounded by leaves. Flowers 1-1.5 cm long, pink, mauve, creamy to white or green, tufts of hair at the tips of the segments; late winter to early summer. Fruiting cones cup-shaped, to 1 cm long.
