Cut-leaf Banksia

Shrub to 4 m with rough, flaky bark. Leaves alternate, 3-6 cm long, 1-2 cm wide; margin toothed. Flower cone cylindrical, about 10-25 cm long, 8 cm wide. Perianth 3-3.5 cm long, red with yellow and mauve; Aug-Nov. Style curved. Fruit nearly 2 cm long.

WA (near Albany).

B. media has toothed leaves with margins curled under; flowers yellow.
