Hairy Glandflower

Shrub to 1 m tall developing a lignotuber. Leaves more or less opposite, linear to narrowly elliptic, to 8 cm long and 7-8 mm wide, sometimes with a few hairs at the base, stalkless. Flower bud pointed. Flowers axillary, red, with about 8 basal scales; mostly July-Nov.
