Western Prickly Moses

Shrub to 2 m tall,with zig-zag branches that have fine ribbing and 1-2 spines at most axils. Leaves bipinnate, with 1 pair of branches and 3-8 pairs of 1-5 mm-long leaflets on each. Flower heads globular, of 24-43 5-parted flowers; winter to spring. Fruit pods narrowly oblong, 2-4.5 cm long, 1.5-3 mm wide.

A. drewiana W.V. Fitzg. from WA has bluish leaflets on a curved axis; A. lasiocarpa Benth. from WA has strongly recurved, almost cylindrical leaves.
