Spanish Broom

Thornless deciduous shrub to 3 m or more tall with cylindrical, erect, rush-like branches. Leaves simple, linear,mostly to 1 cm long and soon shed. Flowers terminal, to 40 cm or so long, golden yellow, fragrant; summer to autumn. Stamens 10, united, in 2 series. Fruit 4-8 cm long, flat, seeds 10-18.

Mediterranean, SW Europe.
