Scrambling or erect shrub to about 1 m tall. Leaves opposite, variable but mostly with 3 points, 1-3 cm long, 1-3.5 cm wide, sometimes similar to the leaves of p. triangulare r. Br. which has distinctly stalked pods and leaves; stalk short or absent. Flowers 1-3 per axil, orange-yellow with pinkish red base, keel reddish with white base; spring to early summer. Fruit pods to about 1.5 cm long.
