Woody climber. Leaves 15-30 cm long. Leaflets 7-19, elliptic to obovate, 5-10 cm long, entire, 2-3.5 cm wide, tip long-pointed. Flowers 10-25 cm long, fragrant; late winter to early spring. Corolla 1.5-2 cm long, standard pale lilac, keel darker and purple. Fruit pods mostly 10-18 cm long, 3-5 cm wide, woody and ribbed, containing 1-4 seeds.
