Erect, spineless shrub to 3 m or so tall with pendent branches. Leaves simple, linearlanceolate, silky-hairy and soon shed. Flowers in open clusters with calyx 2-lipped, corolla about 1 cm long, white; spring. Fruit pod 1.5-2 cm long, obovoid and beaked, with 1-2 seeds. Syn. Retama monosperma (L.) Boiss.

W Asia, Canary Islands, Mediterranean. Naturalised in Qld and Tas.
