Fringecups

Herbaceous perennial to about 70 cm tall and with thick roots. Leaves at base, to about 10 cm wide, 5-lobed, hairy, margin with large teeth; stem leaves much smaller. Leaf stalk to about 20 cm long, hairy. Flower clusters with individual flowers radially symmetrical, pendent, the area around the ovary swollen and glandular-hairy. Sepals 5. Petals 5, 4-6 mm long, bent back, fringed, greenish white at first but turning pinkish red. Stamens 10. Carpels 2. Fruit a capsule containing many seeds.

Grown as a groundcover with flowering stems to over 50 cm tall.
