Begonia mazae Ziesenh.

Stems fleshy, green, short internodes. Leaves ovate acute to 11 cm long, upper surface satin textured, olive green, veins with a dark green overlay changing to black near margins; red below. Flowers 1 cm wide, pink, speckled dark pink, very fragrant.

f. viridis Ziesenh. Stems green, red flushed at the joints. Leaves ovate acuminate, rich green satiny surface, nerves splashed dark brown at margins, corresponding with red on the reverse; margins irregularly toothed, fringed with hairs. Flowers 1.5 cm wide, white to pale pink, profuse.
