Begonia malabarica Lam.

A variable species with leaf and flower color differences. Roots fibrous. Stems up to 60 cm tall, green and fleshy or reddish-brown. Leaves mostly to 10 cm long, hairy, with glossy upper surface, dull, pale green below with or without red veins. Another single plant has glabrous, glossy leaves and fleshy stems. Toothed margins are found on all forms and the fragrant flowers range from white to pink and dusty pink.
