Choko

Herbaceous tendril vine with tuberous roots. Leaves more or less ovate. Flowers small, whitish. Fruit 10-15 cm long, pear-shaped, thick and fleshy, green and with a central seed.

Generally grown in yards to cover fences and other structures.

Tropical America

Fruits are grown as the vegetable Choko. In the tropics the tuberous roots are also eaten as a vegetable.
