Leaf pitchers in upright, pale green rosettes, tubular, to 60 cm or more long, enlarging upwards. The terminal hood of the pitcher is translucent, spotted, open below and with a forked appendage. Flower stems with bracts. Flowers solitary, nodding, sepals yellow-green with purple lines. Petals dark purple and shorter than the sepals; spring to summer. Capsule ovoid to 5 cm wide.
