Portulacaria Jacq.

Succulent shrub to several metres tall. Branches more or less horizontal. Leaves deciduous, opposite, fleshy. Flowers pink, in small clusters. Ovary superior containing a single ovule. Fruit a thin-walled nut with 3 wings.

Generally grown as a tub or pot plant for the attractive leaves.

Cuttings.

A fodder plant in S Africa.
