Stems branched and hairy. Leaves ovate to obovate to 5 cm long, 3 cm wide, margin toothed, often puckered, with 3 prominent veins. Flowers in summer. [P. spruceana misapplied]

C North America & South America

Cultivars variously coloured with red, copper, and silver; their parentage is uncertain although those often sold as P. spruceana are probably this species.
