Forest Clematis

Evergreen climber. Leaflets shiny, entire, rarely with a few teeth. Flowers white (rarely purple); anthers with a short appendage; spring.

The similar C. aristata has an anther appendage at least 1 mm long and anthers at least 2 mm long while C. glycinoides has an anther appendage less than 1 mm long and anthers less than 2 mm long.

The leaves said to relieve headaches when crushed and the aroma inhaled.
