Large, fleshy tufted fern. Rhizome thick, scaly, eventually forming a small trunk. Frond divided 1 or 2 times. Blade to 1 m or so long, oblong in outline with buds sometimes forming in the joints of the side branches towards the tip of the frond. Sori linear in several parallel rows, often double.
Needs shelter and warmth.
Africa, Malaysia, Philippines, Polynesia to Qld.
Fronds mostly divided once, the tip forming a region of fusion; mature fronds with numerous plantlets at the branch junctions mostly towards the tip of the frond.
