Greek leukos - white, stege - roof covering, scale.

Rhizome creeping, bearing both hairs and entire scales. Fronds divided several times, soft, main stem and branch stems grooved above. Stalk jointed to the rhizome. Sori large. Indusia attached at base and sometimes also along the sides, extending up to the segment margin and sometimes beyond the edge.

2 species from India to Malesia and Polynesia.

Rhizome with scales and hairs, frond stalk scales attached along a basal line; soft frond; indusia attached either at the base or both base and sides and at the end of a vein.
