Cycnogeton procerum

Emergent aquatic perennial herb with roots often ending in tubers. Leaves straplike, usually floating on the water surface, they may be up to 2 m long and 3 cm wide. Flower spike emergent, small and greenish. Carpels 6, fertile. Sometimes used in both cold and tropical aquaria.

T. striatum Ruiz &Pav., Streaked Arrowgrass, from Australia, New Zealand, N & S America may be used for revegetation of saline soils in coastal parks and gardens; the leaves do not float.This is possibly the most suitable species for use in aquaria.
