Acoraceae

Sweet Flag Family

For description of the family see Acorus.

Recent research has suggested that Acorus is sister to all other monocotyledons and could be considered the most primitive living monocotyledon taxon.

One genus of 2 species from the Northern Hemisphere, both temperate and tropical.

Waterside plant with Iris-like leaves that are fragrant when crushed; spadix projecting sideways from a leaf-like structure.

Grayum (1987).
