Erect shrub to c. 2 m tall with short, stiff branches. Leaves c. 1 mm long, ridged, in 4-5 rows, closely overlapping, thick, tip curved. Rarely grown ornamentally but sometimes offered in the nursery trade as a botanical novelty.
