Sempervivum heuffelii Schott

Rosettes flat, open, 5-8 cm wide, new plants arising by division of the old plant, not by offsets. Leaves sometimes with some fine hair, 2.5-6 cm long, sometimes browntipped or purple. Flower clusters dense, flat-topped. Flowers with petals 10-12 mm long; summer.

This species is the source of many cultivars at present not available in Australia. J. sobolifera (Sims) Opiz, Hen and Chickens, from C and SE Europe is also sometimes grown (refer to key for differences).
